Social games allow for tracking scores, stats and status. Social gamers utilize platforms like Twitter, Twitch, Instagram and Tiktok to connect with other users and share content.
Gaming Culture has Shifted to a Culture of Social Gaming
Newly released games are shifting to games a service. This is a model which keeps users coming back to a game and builds a community around the product. Publishers do this with frequent updates, live servers and in game chatrooms.
Gaming Platforms
You might find these gaming creators on some major platforms like Twitch, Youtube, Tiktok, Instagram and Twitter, where they share their content and build a brand around themselves. Depending on the amount of content the creators are producing they often don’t have time to properly manage these platforms. It is common practice that creators delegate this responsibility to social media managers and editors who curate and create supplementary content for the creators.
Depending on the production level equipment like mixers and control panels are either handled by a third party or by the creator themselves while they stream. Good equipment can cost hundreds of dollars to get started streaming on platforms like Twitch and YouTube.
Often having the right equipment can be a barrier of entry to creating gaming content. One device which is not necessary for streaming, but certainly helpful is the stream deck. It’s a desktop keypad which displays digital icons and can activate commands on your computer like a keyboard. This is particularly helpful for switching camera angles and your screens while you stream.
